Marlon McVey-Roudette was born on 5th January 1983 in London. He is the son of Cameron Mc Vey, a British music producer and Vonnie Roudette, a designer and artist of Dominican/Trinidadian descent, residing in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

At a young age he moved with his mother and sister to Trinidad, then to St. Vincent in 1992, where he began his music career. He attended the Marriaqua Secondary School, now the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua. At that time it was under Sister Patricia Douglas of blessed memory and it was from her he found the name MATTAFIX, as that was the term she used after seeing students in her office.

Marlon returned to London when he was 17.

He is a British/Vincentian musician and a former member of the band MATTAFIX.

He describes his music as a mix between Hip Hop, R & B and reggae.

He is inspired by musicians such as Gregory Isaacs and Massive Attack, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin and Sade.

Marlon has performed widely in Austria, Belgium, Slovakia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland, France, Italy and in the rest of Europe, with many hits, and always flying the national flag of St Vincent and the Grenadines high wherever he performs.

As proud Vincentians we are excited to see and hear this SUPER STAR and thank him for all he has been doing over the years to promote our country.

MISS CARIVAL is our brand. It is a unique pageant.  It is widely known as the Caribbean’s premier and most prestigious pageant. Let us appreciate what we have worked so hard to build over the years, maintain and enhance the standard.

Contestants and chaperones refer to it as the best organized and most professionally run pageant they have ever been to. Ralph Waldo Emmerson said “What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”  Let us delve into our innermost beings and bring out the best with which we are so abundantly endowed.

To all our Sponsors, listeners, viewers, members of the Media and carnival lovers, thank you for your interest and support. Welcome to all visitors. We trust that you enjoy yourselves and you will return to SVG in the future.

Since VINCY MAS is our largest cultural festival I feel compelled to remind us what culture really is.  Culture is the act of developing by education, discipline and social experience, the training or refining of the moral and intellectual faculties. Culture is the total pattern of human behaviour and its products, embodied in thought, speech, action and artifacts. It is dependent on man’s capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations through the use of tools, language and systems of abstract thought.

Since culture is such an important part of our development, I challenge all of us to ensure that we transmit our knowledge to succeeding generations, and we offer our unstinting support to VINCY MAS, where the creativity, artistry and goodwill of the components of mas, pan, calypso, soca cannot be measured, and which are displayed and presented in abundance.

Let us not take any of this for granted, as dedicated persons give their time, talent and treasure to produce VINCY MAS.

We ask you to join with us in prayer that we will have good weather. We pray for God’s grace, holiness and sanctification on our country during this festive time. We pray the He will keep us safe by His divine presence in every corner of SVG. May the name of God be glorified in our land.

Matthew 21: 22 “Whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believe and ye shall receive.”

Support all shows, but which one are you most looking forward to? Of course, MISS CARIVAL on Friday July 1st, 10 beauties, outstanding Vincentian Guest Artistes and a Vincentian International Super Star!!!

Thank you. God bless you all.
