MISS SVG 2016 SATURDAY JUNE 4th 2016 AT 8.00 P.M.VICTORIA PARK

MISS CARIVAL 2016 FRIDAY JULY 1ST 2016 8.00 P.M. VICTORIA PARK

MISS SVG 2016 will be held on June 4th under the theme” A combination of passion and brilliance.”

I believe that the big question on everyone’s mind today is “How are preparations for MISS SVG 2016 going?”

My answer to you is: Preparations are progressing well. Contestants are working extremely hard preparing their performances for each segment. They continue to attend training sessions, while getting out to meet members of the public, visiting schools across the State and visits to business places around Kingstown on Friday April 29th. They worshipped at the St John’s R. C. Church at Mesopotamia on Sunday May 1st where they received special blessings and were hosted at a reception after Mass by Fr Peter and the parishioners.

We give God the glory for helping us to organize successful events thus far.

On Saturday May 7th 2016 they will be an important part of the CDC’s Celebration Train which will leave the Cruise Ship Terminal in their sponsors’ decorated, open vehicles for the Victoria Park, where they will make an official appearance at the Launch of VINCY MAS and be sashed by their sponsors. After their sashing patrons and fans will have the opportunity to take selfies with their favourite contestant in a “MY QUEEN” photo session. They are eagerly looking forward to this special occasion.

I must mention how well they get along and support each other.

During the next thirty one days (each week brings us 10,080 minutes) our responsibility, with the help of Almighty God,  is to dry their tears if they weep, bring joy to what they do no matter how difficult, raise their courage if they weaken, restore their hope if they lose heart, encourage them to be the best version of themselves and to jump, even if their parachute does not open right away, jump in faith..

Like athletes preparing for the Olympics, they keep training for that big day. Athletes do it for gold medals, the contestants are doing it for a University scholarship by the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

We have every reason to believe that they will deliver well on the night of June 4th 2016.

Believe and achieve. This is the great law of success.

SVG is recognized throughout the Caribbean for producing a professional pageant from which contestants, chaperones and visitors take many unique and fond memories. This year will be no exception, as the CDC, its BSC and all involved get into action to present a special treat.

We, the members of the Beauty Shows Committee of the Carnival Development Corporation, consider our calling as an honour and a privilege to serve our country at this level, as we help young women to come out of their comfort zone, realize their full potential, develop and empower them to realize their dreams, make lifelong connections. We encourage them to cultivate their gifts and abilities, absorb themselves in the tasks ahead, keep their hearts aflame, grow their character and personality, broaden their experiences so that they become effective in all they do for their own improvement and progress. All of this through pageantry, the institution of MISS SVG and MISS CARIVAL.

Like the late Mother Teresa, Saint Teresa, of Calcutta we live the following: “The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love and the fruit of love is service.’”

On behalf of all members of the Beauty Shows Committee thank you to everyone who have been supportive of all our efforts thus far. Special thanks to the sponsors, the Chairman of the CDC, Mr Dennis Ambrose and all Directors of the Board of the CDC, the CEO Mr Ashford Wood and all members of his staff, members of the public, fans and supporters, business houses from whom we receive gifts and giveaways and to you, all members of the Media.

Further updates will be provided during the coming months. In the meantime, take care of God’s holy temple. We wish you good health, happiness and prosperity.

Thank you. God bless you all.
